In this section, we'll describe the casual, public, and formal Regalia as worn by the Grey School pupil.

University Uniform and Regalia

The Grey School of Wizardry maintains uniform standards for gatherings at Highspire, approved School outings, and participation on the virtual campus. These standards provide pupils with practical clothing appropriate to the setting while preserving a recognizable University appearance. Lodge clothing and earned uniforms also allow members of the School to represent their affiliations and accomplishments within clear institutional guidelines. Faculty or Administration may establish additional clothing requirements for particular ceremonies, field activities, presentations, or events. Any such requirements will be communicated in advance.

In-Person Uniform

The standard in-person uniform consists of brown trousers and either a black Grey School polo shirt or an approved Lodge shirt. Brown shorts may be worn when the weather and planned activities make them appropriate.

Additional Lodge clothing and accessories may be worn, provided that the item is available through the Grey School’s official Magick Alley shop:

Shoes must be practical and suitable for walking around Highspire and participating safely in School activities. Open-toed shoes and flip-flops are not permitted at Highspire, even where such footwear may be available through the Magick Alley shop. They may be worn during other approved Grey School outings when the location and activity make them suitable.

Ritual and Ceremonial Attire

A hoodless Tao robe serves as the School’s physical ceremonial uniform and may be required for designated rituals, formal ceremonies, and other events where ceremonial attire is appropriate.

Pupils are not expected to purchase a robe unless it is needed for a scheduled School activity. When an event requires this attire, the School will provide advance notice along with a link to a reputable vendor offering an appropriate robe.

vGSW Campus Uniforms

Several approved uniforms are available within vGSW. Each represents a different level of access, participation, or accomplishment. Pupils may choose among the uniforms they have obtained, provided that all pieces remain within the approved Campus system.

Basic Lodge Uniform

The Basic Lodge Uniform is available to all enrolled pupils. It may be collected from the Magick Alley uniform chest located beside the non-player character named Apprentice Andrew.

The uniform costs one Wizcoin and provides the standard approved clothing needed for ordinary Campus attendance.

Fine Lodge Uniform

The Fine Lodge Uniform is a more formal option available for purchase in Magick Alley.

The principal uniform costs 50 Wizcoins, while the matching hat costs 25 Wizcoins. An optional Lodge scarf may also be purchased for 25 Wizcoins.

These pieces may be worn together or combined with other approved components according to the pupil’s preference.

Moot Uniform

The Moot Uniform can only be earned through attendance at Grey School Moots.

Each qualifying Moot attendance awards the pupil one Moot Token and these tokens may be exchanged along side a modest amount of Wizcoins for Uniform pieces during a Moot by visiting the Armillary Sphere located outside Kayser Hall.

Prestigious Lodge Uniform

The Prestigious Lodge Uniform is the most difficult of the standard Campus uniforms to obtain. To become eligible, a pupil must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Hold a personal Campus Standing of 7.

  2. Belong to a Lodge that has reached Tier 5.

  3. Pay the purchase price of 250 Wizcoins.

The uniform may also be awarded to Castellans and to Faculty members whose sustained service and performance have been judged exceptional.

The Prestigious Lodge Uniform serves as both approved clothing and a visible mark of achievement. It identifies someone who has demonstrated sustained involvement in the School and substantial familiarity with its Campus, Lodge system, and wider community.

While the uniform does not grant authority of office or position, it does, however, convey the authority of knowledge. Those wearing it should be prepared to assist others with reasonable questions concerning their Lodge, the Campus, or the School more broadly.

Because the uniform carries this public meaning, those who earn or receive it are expected to wear it with the conduct appropriate to that recognition.

Approved Variations

Uniform pieces, Lodge accessories, hats, scarves, and other attachments must come from approved Grey School sources unless specific permission has been granted by the Headmaster or the Master of Pupils.

Personal adjustments should preserve the recognizable design and academic character of the uniform. Outside clothing, attachments, insignia, or accessories that substantially alter the intended appearance may not be worn as part of the official Campus uniform without approval.

Uniform requirements may be adjusted temporarily for particular classes, scenarios, Moots, ceremonies, or other School activities. When this occurs, the event organizer or appropriate member of Faculty will provide the necessary instructions.
