Majors and Minors
To achieve the status of Journeyman Wizard from the Grey School of Wizardry, Apprentices must complete both a Major and a Minor. The Major is an in-depth 80-credit program within a specific field of wizardry, providing a comprehensive and focused educational experience. The Minor, consisting of 30 credits, offers a chance to broaden knowledge and skills in a secondary area of interest.
The Grey School of Wizardry requires a total of 168 credits for graduation. This includes 30 credits from core classes, the 80 credits from a chosen Major, the 30 credits from a Minor, and 28 elective credits. Apprentices must select their Major and Minor by the end of Level 2 to continue their progression, allowing for a focused and immersive educational journey right from the intermediate classes.
Completion of Minors
Each Minor consists of a 30-credit program, designed to complement the major fields of study and provide Apprentices with additional expertise to enrich their primary focus.
Reporting Your Completions
Upon completing a Minor or Major, Apprentices should report their achievement to their Prefect, and the Dean of Curriculum. Your Prefect, With Approval from the DoC, can award 25 Merits for each Minor you finish and a whopping 50 for each Major so be sure to take credit for these accomplishments to help propel your lodge to victory! Using your Major Tracker, Located in the Wizard's Grimoire, you will be able to track the progress of both your Major, and Minor as you progress through your classes. Once you Complete a Major/Minor you'll receive a notification in your Grimoire and be one step closer to Graduation!
Prismatic Major/Minor Update
The structured Prismatic/Rainbow major/minor has been discontinued as of 1/1/24. Instead, Apprentices who complete all 16 majors will receive the honorary title "of Many Colors," recognizing their extensive and varied mastery in the field of wizardry. This accolade celebrates their dedication and achievement across the spectrum of Wizardly disciplines offered by our School. Whats more, as a sign of additional accolade and inspiration to their peers and future Apprentices, their names will be added to a plaque located at the school physical campus in Whitehall NY.
