Happy New Year
By Headmaster Kingsley
Well met friends and followers all, and a very Happy New Year!
I hope the day finds everyone in good health and high spirits as we bring 2025 to its close. This time of year has a way of encouraging us to pause for a brief moment and take stock. It offers a chance to breathe, reflect on the ground we have covered, and look ahead with intention to the work yet to come.
As we prepare to welcome 2026, my own focus rests on strengthening Highspire, continuing the important efforts within our Publishing House, and working to bring new faculty voices into the School who share our commitment to serious study, and esoteric education. And, I suspect, I may also try to trim a bit off my wizardly waist while I am at it.
Whatever you're aiming toward in 2026, I hope you step into it with confidence, and purpose. Thank you all for being part of this remarkable School and for the heart you bring to it.
From my hearth to yours, may the New Year greet you kindly.

Journeyman Program Announced
By Master Meighen, Master of Studies
Well met friends and followers all,
I hope that the day finds you in good health and high spirits!
In fulfillment of an aspiration that has long been requested, I am pleased to announce today the Launch of the Grey School of Wizardry's Journeyman Program!
The Journeyman Program continues where the Apprenticeship Program leaves off, guiding the newly graduated Journeyman Wizard into the core of what this stage of Wizardry embodies: thoughtful and intentional actions to apply the principles learned as an Apprentice, reflection on the outcomes, and the gradual development of unique insights and lessons that arise from one's own efforts outside the classroom. The end result of the Journeyman Program is recognition as a Master Wizard.
Essential Things to Know:
GSW graduates with a Journeyman Letter and who completed all academic requirements of their Apprenticeship are eligible to participate.,
There is no additional cost for the Journeyman Program beyond the continuation of an existing Apprenticeship tuition plan.,
Participation in the Journeyman Program requires access to vGSW.,
Engagement with the Journeyman Program is optional.,
There are no additional curricula or classes as part of the Journeyman Program. Instead, participants will maintain a reflective journal of their ongoing efforts to engage in the self-directed practice of the Trade of Wizardry.
Completion of the Journeyman Program is not tied to a specific timeframe. Instead, Journeymen must complete 100 entries in their Journal in order to submit it for review. An entry may be made no more often than once per week. This cadence is enforced by the technical system that hosts the Journal.,
The completed Journal will be reviewed by the Headmaster, Master of Pupils, and Master of Studies. In addition, participants in the Journeyman Program will collaborate with GSW faculty and Administration to develop a Year 1 course grounded in their lived experiences and work as a Journeyman Wizard, as a form of giving back to the community of GSW.,
Please refer to the link in the comments for the full details of the program, its requirements, and how one may participate. And then - strive and become!
Yours in Service,

Toward a Formal Framework for Resonant Magick: A Proto Mathematical Model
By Headmaster Kingsley

Abstract
The Grey School of Wizardry teaches three core models of magickal operation: the Psychological, the Spiritual, and the Resonance Models. Each provides a disciplined lens for understanding how magickal work may exert effects in the world. Of these, the Resonance Model makes the strongest mechanistic claim. It proposes that magick operates by deliberately constructing resonant conditions that couple into the same quantum probabilistic structure that contemporary physics uses to describe matter, nudging the resolution of superposed possibilities toward particular outcomes.
The present work seeks to develop a proto mathematical framework for this Resonance Model. It does not attempt to deliver a finished physical theory. Rather, it introduces a set of definitions and relations that treat magickal workings as complex resonant systems, physically real in principle, built from correspondences whose combined profiles are taken to influence quantum probabilities. In doing so, the paper offers a family of Equations, symbolic expressions that capture key claims of the Resonance Model in explicit form, suitable for critique, refinement, and possible future testing. Contemporary science supplies the underlying concepts of resonance, superposition, and probabilistic dynamics that this framework attempts to extend.

January 2026 Astrological Forecast
By Grey Matters Staff
January opens with a pivot point. On the 2nd, Chiron stations direct after months of retrograde reflection, and suddenly the fog begins to lift. Emotional truths we’ve been skirting around, misunderstanding, or quietly shelving start to come into focus. These realizations may sting at first, but they arrive with purpose. This is the kind of clarity that nudges us off the couch and into motion, asking not just for awareness but for action.
The following day brings a deeply personal Full Moon. On January 3rd, the Moon swells in Cancer, turning our attention straight toward home, family, and the emotional foundations we live on. This lunation can feel urgent, even tender, stirring a desire to reconnect with loved ones or with parts of ourselves that have been neglected. Something comes to light, and once it does, it’s hard to look away. Old habits around comfort, responsibility, or work life balance may be ready for release now, especially if they’ve been quietly undermining your sense of fulfillment.
This Wolf Moon doesn’t arrive quietly. With the Sun closely aligned with Venus and Mars and in harmony with the lunar nodes, there’s a palpable spark in the air. Creativity, connection, and momentum all feel within reach. The insights that surface now feel meaningful and forward looking. Whether you’re setting intentions, deepening a relationship, or diving into a creative project, there’s a sense of being fully present and personally invested. These are the kinds of moments that turn into memories.
Midmonth, the tone shifts toward building something real. The January 18th New Moon in Capricorn invites a reset rooted in structure and intention. This lunation reminds us that boundaries and commitments aren’t buzzkills. They’re what make freedom sustainable. It’s an excellent moment to set goals that are realistic, measurable, and aligned with where you want to be going, not just next month, but years from now.
With Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto all activated around this New Moon, the inner planets are fully engaged in the process. Add supportive aspects from Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus, plus a provocative opposition to Jupiter, and you get a rare blend of inspiration and practicality. This is fertile ground for career moves, long term planning, and collaborative efforts. Innovation meets discipline here, and the result can be quietly powerful. The magick lies not in shortcuts, but in showing up and doing the work.
January 20th delivers a final note of stability with a twist. Saturn forms its last sextile to Uranus in this cycle, offering a chance to integrate change without chaos. This is a moment where progress feels earned rather than forced. Efforts made now, particularly around career, life direction, or the structures that support your daily life, tend to stick. Alliances can strengthen, ideas can take form, and the balance between tradition and innovation feels surprisingly natural.
The month closes with a generational shift. On January 26th, Neptune enters Aries for a long stay, ushering in a new era of ideals centered on independence, courage, and bold beginnings. This transit encourages us to chase authenticity and self determination, but it comes with a caveat. Neptune can blur boundaries, and in Aries, that blur can show up as confusion about identity or inflated self images meant to compensate for insecurity. The challenge here is to pursue bravery without slipping into illusion, and to claim individuality without losing self awareness.
January doesn’t whisper: it asks questions, offers tools, and invites us to step forward with both heart and backbone. The stars may set the tone, but how the story unfolds is still very much up to you.
