GSW Launches Cohorts!

This Fall Equinox, on Monday, September 22, 2025, The Grey School of Wizardry will mark an important milestone in its history with the launch of the vGSW Cohort Program. Hosted on the School’s virtual campus in Second Life, the program represents both innovation and tradition as an effort to strengthen esoteric education with structured learning while preserving the breadth and spirit that have long defined the School.

For more than two decades, the Grey School has offered apprentices around the world the opportunity to pursue wizardry as a serious academic discipline. Its flexible, self-paced model has made study possible for many who would otherwise lack access to such learning. Yet over the years, some apprentices have asked for greater structure and the chance to progress with their peers in a shared rhythm of study. The Cohort Program is designed to answer that call.

Apprentices who enroll will embark on a three-and-a-half-year course of study, advancing through seven levels of instruction under the steady guidance of their instructors. Each week, they will gather in the virtual campus for live classes led by faculty, where discussion and collaboration meet hands-on exercises and scenario-based training. The intent is to provide not only lessons but experiences, where theory and practice are woven together in a way that mirrors the demands of real-world wizardry.

The curriculum itself is ambitious, encompassing all sixteen of the School’s departments and preparing apprentices for Journeyman Certification. Yet the Cohort experience does not exist in isolation. Those enrolled will continue to enjoy the full breadth of the Grey School’s resources, from its catalog of more than six hundred online courses to the traditions of the Apprenticeship program. In this way, the Cohort offers the best of both worlds: the structure of guided study and the freedom of individual exploration.

“This program reflects our commitment to provide every apprentice with the tools they need to succeed,” said Headmaster Kingsley. “It is an invitation to walk the path together, to build habits of steady study, and to deepen the bonds of community that are at the heart of our School.”

The launch of the Cohort Program is not simply a new offering but a statement of direction. It signals that the Grey School continues to grow, adapt, and innovate while staying true to its mission of fostering wisdom in the modern age.
