Well met Friends and Wizards one and all,
I hope the day finds everyone in good health and high spirits!
The wind’s shifted here at Highspire, and the leaves have just started to turn. There’s that quiet, familiar pause between seasons at the moment, where the air feels a little older and the days stretch just a little differently than they did before. It’s a fitting backdrop, I think, as we prepare for the End of Term Moot on vGSW in just a few days. I've always found the moots a welcome moment to reconnect and to look back at what we’ve learned and set our eyes on the season ahead. You can read more about the moot here, we'd love to have you join us: https://www.greyschool.org/post/join-us-for-the-end-of-term-moot
And there is quite a bit ahead! Later this October, Highspire will once again open its doors, this time for something new. The Highspire Haunt is a one-night (Optional Two-night for those enrolled) event focused on paranormal investigation, rooted in the kind of work that we teach in our Defense Against the Dark Arts, Lore and Lifeways Departments! You can learn more here: https://www.greyschool.org/post/a-highspire-haunt
As that evening takes shape, so too does a quieter addition to the Manor. We’ve been preparing a new space, The Study, intended for pupils and invited guests who make the journey to our physical campus. It will be a place for reading and quiet reflection, filled over time with texts that speak to the varied paths our trade can take. If you’ve books (occult, esoteric, or otherwise thoughtful) that are ready to be passed along, we’d welcome them! After all, the right book in the right hands can shape far more than just a quiet afternoon.

In much the same spirit, I’m pleased to share that we’ll soon be speaking more about the School’s next major project: the founding of a publishing house. This has been in the works for some time now, and we’re excited to create a home for the written voice of the School. One where faculty, and might I add, pupils alike, can contribute meaningful works and see them made tangible. More on that soon!
Of course, all of these efforts are carried forward by those who believe in the work we do here at GSW. We’ve raised just over $2000 so far toward our $5,000 fundraising goal for November, and each contribution brings us closer to what we aim to build. Whether it’s $25 or something greater, your support helps keep the rhythm of the School alive and growing! For those who give $1,000 or more, I’ll be sending a personal letter and a decorative Grey School sword as a mark of truly deep thanks for your show of support.
I’d also like to share some good news. Since voting to lower tuition and open the doors more broadly to those called to learn but previously unable to afford the cost, we’ve welcomed over twenty new pupils into the School. It was not an easy decision, I grant you, but I do believe it was the right one. I made the case, put it to a vote, and explained plainly that if we chose this path, we’d need to pull together. That meant fundraising, sharing posts, and inviting others to take part. And you’ve done just that. The response has been full of encouragement and momentum, and it reminds me again that the mission of the School has always been to open doors, not close them. You can read more about this decision here: https://www.greyschool.org/post/gsw-lowers-tuition
The season ahead feels promising, and there’s a sense that the pieces are lining up for real, meaningful progress. From the Moot in vGSW to the investigative work at Highspire, each effort builds on the last, and together they point us toward a School that’s not only moving forward, but growing while we do so.
