Live Class Registration
The Live Class Registration terminal in Meighen Hall allows pupils to choose and register for scheduled live study within vGSW. Each registration covers a complete course section, including its full series of lessons. Where a course has more than one section, pupils should choose the offering whose schedule fits their availability.
Before You Begin
Before beginning, pupils must wear their current V2 armguard and have their Second Life avatar linked to their School Site account. Pupils who haven't completed this link should visit the separate Account Link terminal and follow its instructions before returning to register. These requirements allow the School to connect each registration with the correct academic record.
To begin, stand near the Live Class Registration terminal and touch it. The main menu provides Browse Eligible Courses and My Registrations, together with a Help option. Read the numbered choices in the menu and select the corresponding button. The terminal serves one pupil at a time, so anyone arriving while it is occupied should wait until it becomes available.
Choosing a Course Section
Browse Eligible Courses presents upcoming offerings for which the pupil meets the recorded academic requirements. These include the appropriate academic level and any prerequisites, together with eligibility under the pupil's programme. Availability is determined from School records. If a course is missing despite the pupil believing they meet its requirements, the Registrar can review the record and explain what needs attention.
Course offerings appear across numbered menu pages. Pupils may move between pages and select an entry to review its section details. The date range identifies the first and last lessons in that section; pupils should also read the displayed schedule and instructor information before making a choice. All schedules use Eastern Time, so pupils living elsewhere should check the corresponding times in their own location. When the terminal directs a pupil to local chat for longer details, those details are sent privately and should be read before continuing.
Pupils should choose sections they can attend throughout the scheduled series, allowing time for preparation and assigned work. Each section currently accommodates 12 pupils, and browsing an offering doesn't reserve a place. Registration closes when the section's first lesson begins. A pupil who intends to attend should therefore complete registration before that time.
Confirming Your Registration
After reviewing a section, select the registration option and read the confirmation carefully. Confirming registers the pupil for the full series of lessons in that section. There is currently no additional registration charge at the terminal. The School checks availability and academic eligibility again when the request is submitted, including whether the section conflicts with an existing registration. Pupils should wait for the terminal's confirmation before treating their place as secured.
Reviewing Your Registrations
My Registrations allows pupils to review their active registrations for the term and return to the details of a selected section. This is also the place to check that a newly confirmed registration appears as expected. Registration establishes enrollment in the section; academic credit is earned through successful completion of the course requirements.
Withdrawing from a Class
A pupil who needs to leave a section may select it under My Registrations and choose the withdrawal option. Withdrawal applies to the full section and costs 10 Wizcoins. Pupils must wear their Wizcoin HUD and have sufficient funds available before confirming. The terminal displays the charge before requesting payment, and pupils may return to the section without paying if they decide to remain enrolled.
Selecting Pay 10 Wizcoins and Withdraw begins the payment and withdrawal process. Pupils should remain attentive to the terminal's messages until the outcome is confirmed. A payment confirmation alone does not establish that the withdrawal has been completed. Once withdrawal succeeds, the pupil's place becomes available again and the section is removed from their active registrations. Simply ceasing to attend doesn't complete this process.
