Support GSW!
By Headmaster Kingsley

Well met Wizards one and all,
I hope that the day finds everyone in good health and high spirits!
As we continue moving through this remarkable year together, I'm pleased to share some exciting news! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are now only $1,700 away from reaching our annual fundraising goal! This support has been essential as we work to strengthen the foundation of our School and expand the opportunities available to our apprentices.
Already this term, we’ve seen steady growth across our campuses. Apprentices have taken part in real-world investigations at the Highspire Campus and Our return to Skene Manor saw the continuation of research into local lore and reported phenomena, offering practical experience for those studying in the Paranormal.
Meanwhile, engagement continues to rise on vGSW as new activities take shape each week! Apprentices are exploring fresh opportunities to meet, and collaborate, whether through the competitive strategy of our new Wizard’s Duel card game or by joining in the steady rotation of gatherings, clubs, and study sessions.
Our digital presence is also taking another important step forward. On November 26th, we will launch our newly mobile-accessible website, making it easier than ever to navigate coursework, news, and School life from any device. This update marks a meaningful milestone in our ongoing effort to support a growing and global community while improving the experience of every apprentice.
What's more, the Halloween Moot approaches on October 31st which promises a full day of events, and friendly competition as we gather in celebration on the virtual campus. With enthusiasm building across the Lodges, it promises to be a highlight of the term!
Of course, Your contributions make all of this possible. Every gift supports faculty, scholarships, program development, and the continued growth of both Highspire and vGSW. Fundraising also plays a key role in helping us keep tuition as affordable as possible, ensuring GSW reaches a broader community and that everyone can share in this education.
If you are able to help us close this final $1,700 gap, it would be deeply appreciated.
Donations may be made at:
Let us Strive together into the coming season and Become all that we might be.
I look forward to seeing you around the vCampus!
Wizardly Regards,

New vGSW Features
By Headmaster Kingsley
Well met Wizards one and all,
I hope that the day finds everyone in good health and high spirits!
Activity on vGSW continues to grow, and it’s been a pleasure to see more apprentices exploring the grounds lately and joining in the events that make vGSW such a lively and connected place to learn. My ongoing efforts to strengthen participation are yielding good signs, but the greatest progress will come from each of us encouraging our peers to take part as well. Invite your lodge-mates to log in, attend an event, or even host a small gathering of their own. Together, we can continue to make vGSW a thriving center of wizardly study and camaraderie.
Several new features have also been added to enrich your experience on campus. The Commons Counter, now active in the vGSW Commons, invites you to interact once per day to earn a point for your Lodge. Each Lodge’s total will be tallied at term’s end, and every point will translate directly into Merits, so be sure to make your visit and show your Lodge pride!
You’ll also find the Lodge Challenge Terminals now active in each Lodge hall. These challenges require five members to activate and will rotate each term with a new theme or objective. Once five members of your Lodge have visited and clicked the Challenge Terminal, the event unlocks and the task begins. It’s a fine way to test teamwork and spirit while contributing to your Lodge’s honor.
For details on all upcoming gatherings, clubs, and activities, visit www.greyschool.org/gswevents . You’ll find current listings for study groups, social events, and more. And of course, our Halloween Moot draws near which will be a celebration not to be missed! Speak with your Prefects for full details on how your Lodge can take part.
As we continue building momentum within vGSW, I also wish to remind everyone that we’re nearing the finish line for our November Donation Goal! We’re now just about $2,000 away from reaching it. Every contribution helps us sustain and expand our programs, support our faculty, and keep our vision growing strong. If you can lend even a small donation every hand helps! Donations can be made at www.greyschool.org/donations
Let’s keep the energy rising and I look forward to seeing you around the vCampus!

"Wizard's Duel" Debuts on vGSW
By Grey Matters Staff

A new pastime has been introduced to the virtual campus of The Grey School of Wizardry, offering both a touch of friendly competition and a thoughtful layer of reflection. Found within the welcoming walls of the Millstone Tavern, Wizard’s Duel is GSW's first card-based game that blends quick play with subtle education.
Developed by Headmaster Kingsley ᛞ, the game combines the simplicity of a card match with the quiet sophistication of wizardly study. “It’s a simple card-based game I’ve put together for those who’d like something light to do between classes or while waiting for an event to begin,” the Headmaster explained. “It’s enjoyable to play, the games are quick, and it gives apprentices a chance to engage with one another in a way that feels in keeping with the School’s spirit.”
Two players sit down, draw their hands, and select their moves. The match proceeds briskly, each round a small test of intuition and timing. Yet the game offers more than friendly competition, each card played reveals a line of text in the chat, offering a brief historical or philosophical insight tied to the concept it represents.
“These little notes can serve as a jumping-off point for future study,” said Kingsley. “A spark of interest, perhaps. I’m not saying Wizard’s Duel is set to replace lessons at GSW, not to my eye at the very least!” he added while chuckling, “I’d hardly say they’re a great tool to learn in isolation even. However, like so many things in wizardry, it’s the connections that matter. From here, pupils might get a sense of something new to explore.”
Beyond its place as a charming in-world pastime, Wizard’s Duel also represents something larger for the School’s ongoing efforts to unify its learning environments. “This is something I wanted to create not only for vGSW but also for around the place here (Highspire),” The Headmaster said. “We intend to have the game printed and available here at the Manor as well. In that way, it becomes another bridge, a sort of... Well, a shared experience that brings the virtual and physical pieces of the School closer together.”
The Headmaster went on to note that the project reflects a broader philosophy within the School’s recent design. “vGSW and Highspire aren’t separate worlds,” he said. “They’re different expressions of the same institution, fractials of the same vision. When something can live and breathe in both spaces, it should! When someone can play a round of Wizard’s Duel in the vgsw Tavern, then find the same deck waiting for them at Highspire, well, that’s when we start to see GSW, and honestly wizardry on the all, as a lived continuum. It’s these links, however small they may seem to some, that to my mind help keep our School so vibrant.”
The release of Wizard’s Duel comes in the midst of the Oztober celebrations and ongoing updates across the virtual campus. Between seasonal festivities, new interactive displays, and the hum of community life, the game offers a welcome way to pause, share a laugh, and test one’s insight in good company.
“I’ve been tinkering on this for a while now,” Kingsley concluded. “And in the midst of all the Oztober activity, I thought this would be a fine time to release it. It’s a small thing, really, but a good reminder that learning and play can walk hand in hand.”
Whether as a bit of amusement between lessons, a spark for future study, or simply a shared pastime over a moment, Wizard’s Duel seeks to capture the thoughtful rhythm of life at The Grey School of Wizardry. Faculty, Pupils and Guests alike are encouraged to visit the Millstone Tavern, take a seat, and see what awaits within the deck!

November 2025 Astrological Forecast
By Grey Matters Staff
What’s going on beneath the surface? As November rolls in, the cosmos pulls us under. With a cluster of planets occupying water signs, skimming the waves simply won’t do. We’re being tugged into the deep, willingly or not, while the stars are sounding a clarion call for stillness and reflection.
It’s quite the retrograde spectacle. Already marching in reverse are Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. By the second week, Mercury and Jupiter join the parade. In a world rife with turbulence, one might hope these cycles encourage our shared humanity rather than deepen divisions, though some days that feels like a tall order.
The intensity sets in early, with the Sun passing steadily through Scorpio until the 21st. This is a time of mystery and raw truth, a push to excavate what’s been quietly simmering beneath us. Scorpio governs transformation; even if your metamorphosis stays within your inner life, every shard of change matters. Whether you’re clearing emotional baggage or rewriting a story that no longer serves you, the first three weeks of November invite a deep-sea dive.
What might you release before we finish 2025? Insight arrives at the Taurus Full Moon on November 5, which is an emotionally charged high tide helping us discern what is safe and what has grown stagnant. Taurus—associated with emotional and financial security—gives form to ideas. Look back to the Taurus new moon of April 27 for hints of what may now find fruition.
Meanwhile, Uranus takes its final bow in Taurus. On November 7 the rebellious Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus one last time. Having shifted into Gemini in July, it will leave Taurus behind for good in April 2026 and dwell in Gemini until 2033. With that in mind, you may revisit seismic shifts that began as far back as 2018. Uranus speaks of innovation and technology; Taurus governs the material, flesh-and-blood world. In a season when AI looms heavy and the human still calls to be remembered, Uranus’s return invites a reality check. November’s retrogrades may well slam hard on the brakes, exactly when we might need them.
Now for the latest cycle-cycles: Mercury turns retrograde on November 9, backpedalling through Sagittarius before slipping into Scorpio on the 18th. Expect miscommunications, tech glitches, perhaps international tension. Then Jupiter turns retrograde on November 11, ushering a reflective journey through Cancer until March 10, putting a spotlight on home, family, women and children, the often-silent hinge of global shake-ups.
Looking ahead: the November 20 Scorpio new moon brings a potent reset, tightly conjunct retrograde Mercury and the elusive Black Moon Lilith. That trio forms a rare Grand Water Trine with Neptune, Saturn and retrograde Jupiter. This could be a healing gateway or a flood of memory, feeling and truth. Anger, stirred by Lilith’s righteous edge and Jupiter’s retrograde in Cancer, may return home to roost. Whether it triggers accountability or scapegoating and violence is the question.
And finally, on November 21, Sagittarius season begins and grants us back the wide-angle lens. Then on November 27 Saturn ends its retrograde, moving forward in Pisces for one last lap before a nearly three-decade shift. Whew. November is undoubtedly one of the weightier months of this heavy year. The good news: we’re edging toward the finish line. It’s been a long haul, but all is not lost. If 2025 has taught us anything, it’s how to rally in our communities.
