The Lodge Council Chronicle
Each month, our Lodge Council gathers it voices into this Chronicle as a place to speak to their Lodges, and to the wider School. We encourage you to read their words and should you have any questions, please reach out to your Lodge Prefect.
As always, we begin with a word from the Captain...

A Word from Our Captain
Hello Apprentices and Faculty,
The holidays have come to a close, presents have been stored away, and family gatherings are at an end. The year has ended, and people everywhere are now focusing on the year ahead.
With the year ending, many of us are focusing on resolutions. This means focusing on starting or stopping something. New habits are forming, leaving old habits in their wake. When I think of resolutions, I can’t help but wonder whether we should outline them for ourselves. The past's failed resolutions come to mind. Is there something more? Something else?
This year, I’m not focusing on starting or stopping anything. True, there are things that I could be doing or not doing. I need to exercise more. I need to sleep better. However, focusing on these things tends to make me feel bad about myself when I cannot maintain these perfect habits. Instead, I’ll focus on getting better at the things I’ve focused on all last year. Building on what already exists helps us be more effective with them in all areas of our lives.
I encourage you all to reflect on what the past year has brought. Are there habits that have formed? Have your relationships improved? How are you at work or school? Is there anything that can be further enhanced?
I know that this year I’ll be moving further toward a better me in all areas of my life.
Captain Abbie

Winds Lodge
Hello Winds Lodge, Winds Prefect here!
Boy, how festive and busy December has been, aye? So many holidays and hectic times and everything crashing together all at once- it's always like the old year wants to go out with a bang, and it certainly never fails! But with the coming of the new year, hopefully things can settle a bit!
I still, however, have a few things I need to address! Windsday, the 7th of Jan, Master Kayser will be present in the vGSW Winds Lodge to discuss the moot with us! So please attend! I need all the help we can muster to show the school how the Winds Lodge is the Best Lodge! The Winds Lodge will be having a moot to welcome the month of March, but I can't run it alone! Well, I technically can, but it would be so awkward! So I would love to have anyone with a passion or interest join me in sharing our windsy ways with our peers!
However, in spirit of lodge pride and representation, I would love to thank those who'd been representing in the Lodge Competition through December! Thank you, sincerely, to Apprentices Burkey, Sindri, Jack in the Sea, Robert B., Hildebern, Dustin Kimberlin, Minerva, and Courtney Wise! Genuinely, thank you all for your efforts! We're still holding second place with a strong gap between us and the Flames!
Happy new year, everyone! May this year be prosperous and enjoyable!
Winds Lodge, Best Lodge,
- Prefect Perkins, James

Shadows Lodge
As we step into 2026, the tone is clear: there is no gentle transition. This year opens with a call for courage, clarity, and commitment.
The month begins with mental fog and emotional contrast. On January 1st, Mercury clashes with Neptune, highlighting the gap between bold resolutions and practical reality. Misunderstandings, over-promising, and scattered focus are possible. The lesson is simple: verify, ground, and simplify.
That same day, Mercury enters Capricorn, shifting everything. Ideas must now prove their usefulness. Strategy replaces inspiration, structure replaces theory. From here on, intentions demand measurable action. Early January is dominated by Capricorn energy, pushing you to commit, organize, and take responsibility especially in work, finances, and long-term goals. Yet repeated tensions with Jupiter in Cancer reveal an ongoing conflict: ambition versus emotional needs. Success has a cost, and January asks you to choose consciously.
Mid-month marks a turning point. As planets move into Aquarius, the focus shifts from individual achievement to innovation, collaboration, and collective vision. What you build now must serve more than status.
A historic shift arrives on January 26, when Neptune enters Aries for the first time in 165 years. Ideals stop being abstract. Belief becomes action. Spirituality becomes embodied courage. January 2026 teaches one core lesson: true revolution only works when it stands on solid ground.

Stones Lodge
Welcome to 2026, Stones Lodge!
This new year is ripe with possibility and many fun things coming to us here at GSW!
We have the New Years Moot this month on the 22nd at 6 PM EST!
The Berserker Tournament is heating up! The third round in the tournament is January 10, 2026 at 4 PM EST with round four coming in on January 24th at the same time. Come cheer us on, and if you are interested in learning the game, there are weekly Berserker practice sessions on vGSW that are available.
Keep an eye on the GSW Events Calendar on site and on the GSW Discord server for all of the events we have going on! Hope to see you at many of these events! Not only are they fun but there’s always some wisdom to be gleaned.
Now let’s cheer on our Boon Champions for December 2025 that kept their Champion’s Boon going during that month:
- Â Â Â Â Â Angel Rowe
- Â Â Â Â Â Kelly Day
- Â Â Â Â Â William Goldsmith
- Â Â Â Â Â Jim Rodger
- Â Â Â Â Â Kevin M
- Â Â Â Â Â Bobbi Diaz

Great job, Champions! Keep up the great work!
No Champion’s Boon? No problem! There are many merit opportunities available otherwise! Also, just doing our classwork and completing our classes really does boost us up as a lodge in the GSW Lodge Competition!
If you have questions or just want to chat, feel free to message me directly on the GSW site or on Discord.

Flames Lodge
Happy January and welcome to the New Year, Flames Lodge! I hope you have had a marvellous time with your families and friends, and you’re looking forward for what lies ahead this year. As we pace into January, think about all that you have achieved over the last year as a student, wizard and as a Lodge member. I’m sure you will find many examples to fuel your flame for our next adventures!
Lodge competition wise, we are 3rd behind the dastardly Winds Lodge! Thank you very much to those completing your classes at 95%, I’m proud of you and you should be too! Let’s try our best to catch up to the Winds - just as a phoenix flies on the currents, we can fly above in the Leaderboard!
Our next Berserker match will come up towards the end of January - I am on the hunt for new team members as usual! Please drop me a message if you would like to join the team. Â
More importantly… your Leadership is looking for volunteers to present at the New Year Moot on January 22nd from 6PM to 10PM GMT! This is a fun way to show off your talents and get some public speaking experience alongside your fellow Lodge members and students. Please reach out to myself or Captain Abbie if you would like to volunteer or should you have questions!
Enjoy the last vestiges of winter and continue to burn bright in all you do, Flames Lodge.
Thank you,
Prefect Ravenway

Waters Lodge
It is with joy in my heart that I open this newsletter, marking the beginning of a new year and new opportunities for everyone! This is the first month of the new year, guiding us toward the midpoint of this term. Taking stock of where we are, I am proud of what we have accomplished together so far. Many of you have been more active than others within our Waters Lodge, and I hope you may serve as an example to those who have been less active recently.
This month also brings the continuation of the Berserker Tournament. The next match will take place on Saturday, January 10, at 4:00 PM EST, and I strongly encourage all of you—even if you are not participating as players—to come to the stands and cheer on your fellow colleagues.
Additionally, on January 22, the New Year’s Moot will be held. Captain Abbie has posted a message in the Waters Lodge channel on Discord requesting at least two participants from our Lodge to present a project. I warmly invite you to put yourselves forward as soon as possible by writing to me via DM or directly to her. Let us not miss the opportunity to make ourselves noticed during this important event as well.
To close this newsletter, I extend once again my warmest wishes to all of you for a wonderful start to 2026, and I hope it marks the beginning of many new things.
Yours in service,
Prefect Marcus Cerri
